Yesterday the Eagles re-signed left tackle Jason Peters to a five-year extension. For an encore today the birds re-signed wide receiver Riley Cooper to a five year $25 million dollar deal and center Jason Kelce to a six year $37.5 million deal. Cooper who may in fact be a bigot, had a breakout season with 47 receptions 835 yards and eight touchdowns. Peters and Kelce, on the other hand, anchored an offensive line who blocked for the NFL's leading rusher.
LOVE all three of these moves. Lets start with Cooper. Cooper took advantage of a pre season injury to Jeremy Maclin and absolutely exploded this season. He seems to have a great rapport with Nick Foles as seven of his eight touchdowns this season were thrown by Foles. He's a big bodied receiver who blocks well, is faster than he is given credit for and has really good hands. He will continue to have a huge impact on third downs as he can go over the middle and is not afraid to take a hit. The question now remains, what happens to Jeremy Maclin? If the Eagles can retain him for a one year contract and a good price, I think its worth the risk to re-sign him. It's a shame that his bones are made of glass because he could be a really good receiver.

I'll lump Kelce and Peters together. Both guys were struck with injuries in 2012 which led to the destruction of Michael Vick and a 4-12 season. I think the Eagles easily have a top five offensive line and these two guys, Kelce especially, are the anchors. The longer the Eagles keep offensive linemen the better. It will take a new offensive linemen at least a full offseason and probably longer to get into Chip Kelly shape. Minimal turnover for linemen is key for the Eagles. With Peters and Evan Mathis protecting Nick Foles blind side, Todd Herremans and second year player Lane Johnson on his right side and Kelce leading the way in the middle, the Eagles O-Line is poised for many great seasons. LeSean McCoy must be licking his chops.
